Indaba: The Feature List
The Indaba fieldwork platform helps organizations create information. In particular, Indaba helps large, distributed teams of people work together to gather, edit, analyze and publish text, data and any kind of files.

Designer
A planning tool that creates workflows used in Builder.
Reusable project templates: Much of the Designer process happens offline, first with a pencil and paper, then with process templates that help you make the invisible visible.
Custom workflows: Indaba’s special sauce. You can design workflows that can loop, branch or converge via a highly flexible framework goals, assignments and rules.
Indicator library: Writing good survey methodology is hard. We make it a little easier by saving indicators to a common library, which you can reuse or adapt as needed.
Custom notifications: The workflow engine can trigger alerts, reminders and even open new cases in the case manager, based on rules you create.
Custom user roles: Adjust access to features and privacy up or down along 50+ settings, or use ready made roles created for previous projects.
Fieldwork Manager
A collaboration space that runs fieldwork and allows groups to create, edit and verify content.
Assignments with accountability: Users will create, edit, review or comment on documents through automated workflows. Managers get instant visibility into progress, via dashboards, discussion threads and email alerts.
Configurable permissions: More than 50 user “rights” let managers present some users with a deep, fully featured interface, and others with a very controlled environment.
Configurable features: Want your managers to see a rich user interface with lots of options? Want your data entry teams to see a limited, easy-to-learn interface? It’s all configurable by creating custom user roles.
Configurable privacy awareness: Role-based privacy enables collaboration between peers, while protecting the integrity of blind peer reviews.
Assignments via queues: Work queues up automatically. From a queue it can be sorted by priority, assigned out by managers or claimed by users.
Integrated case manager: Report problems, sort priorities, attach content and people, gather information and communicate your decisions.
Integrated sitemail: Send sitemail messages to groups of users or individuals, which extend to that user’s preferred mode of contact.
Publisher
A tool to get content from Indaba to your audience.
Publisher is built to maximize open and interoperable data while radically streamlining distribution. Indaba is built to host your content in a common, shared database which we serve via an API and open-source widgets. If you prefer, you can export your work to the content manager of your choice.
Synchronize print and Web. By storing your data in a central hub, it’s easy to serve the current, correct version to print documents, Web sites and exports.
Universal compatibility. Open, interoperable data formats mean that the end users, not the software companies, decide which technology to use for analysis and distribution.
Flexible publishing. Don’t have a website? Use a widget to embed your scorecards or reporting on any blogging platform. Need more control? Use our API to display your content exactly how you want it.
Collaboration ready. No more data silos. Indaba data is ready to share and compare across organizations, as data uses common structure, IDs and question formats.
